Course overview
Manual handling accidents account for a large proportion of back injury compensation claims and if the accident is a result of a lack of relevant training, a claim for compensation can be made against the employer.
These incidents account for around 33% of all workplace accidents. The training is interactive incorporating a mix of discussion, group work and practical demonstration.

- Overview of The Manual Handling Operations Regulations
- Manual handling risk factors relevant to the Task, Load and Environment
- Individual risk factors
- Key causes of manual handling incidents and related injuries
- Ways of minimising the risk of injury from lifting, pushing, pulling or carrying
- Assessing manual handling tasks considering the ‘hierarchy of control measures
- Practical assessment of safe manual handling
