Paediatric First Aid
EYFS update following Government change in legislation
In the revised Statutory framework for the EYFS (effective 3rd April 2017) the requirement for Paediatric first aid training courses is that ‘All newly qualified entrants to the early years workforce who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30 June 2016, must also have either a full PFA or an emergency PFA certificate within three months of starting work in order to be included in the required staff:child ratios at level 2 or level 3 in an early years setting. Providers should display (or make available to parents) staff PFA certificates or a list of staff who have a current PFA certificate.Childcare providers will be allowed a three month ‘grace’ period to complete PFA training after starting work with a new employer.‘
Paediatric first aid Course overview
The 2 day Paediatric First Aid course meets the criteria as outlined in the EYFS framework for those working with children such as Nurseries, Childminders, Schools and any workers caring for children in the absence of their parents.
Training is delivered in a practical way by experienced trainers who will ensure your training is enjoyable and relaxed.
Our Paediatric First aid course is recognised as a Level 3 qualification, regulated by OfQual. The course fully meets the requirements for compliance with Ofsted under the EYFS. The course consists of two Units of a qualification:
- Unit one – Emergency Paediatric first aid (day one)
- Unit two – Managing childhood illness and injuries (day two)
Certificates are valid for 3 years and are accredited with our chosen awarding body. Attendance on the Paediatric First Aid course every 3 years is required to maintain first aider status.
As part of our service, we inform you in advance when your qualification is due to expire to ensure you’re aware of when you need to book on your requalification training. This service is for both individuals and companies alike.
