Emergency Paediatric First Aid

EYFS update following Government change in legislation

In the revised Statutory framework for the EYFS (effective 3rd April 2017) the requirement for Paediatric first aid training courses is that ‘All newly qualified entrants to the early years workforce who have completed a level 2 and/or level 3 qualification on or after 30 June 2016, must also have either a full PFA or an emergency PFA certificate within three months of starting work in order to be included in the required staff:child ratios at level 2 or level 3 in an early years setting. Providers should display (or make available to parents) staff PFA certificates or a list of staff who have a current PFA certificate.Childcare providers will be allowed a three month ‘grace’ period to complete PFA training after starting work with a new employer.

Emergency paediatric first aid training courses – overview

The 1 day Emergency Paediatric First Aid course meets the criteria as outlined in the EYFS framework where the numbers of full paediatric first aiders have been met considering the criteria and your first aid needs assessment.  Persons holding this qualification may be in addition to EYFS requirements.

Training is delivered in a practical way by experienced trainers who will ensure your training is enjoyable and relaxed.

The course fully meets the requirements for compliance with Ofsted under the EYFS.  Course content is the first 6 hours (day one) of the full Paediatric first aid qualification.

  • Unit one – Emergency Paediatric first aid

Certificates are valid for 3 years and are accredited with our chosen awarding body.  Attendance on the Emergency paediatric First Aid course every 3 years is required to maintain first aider status.

As part of our service, we inform you in advance when your qualification is due to expire to ensure you’re aware of when you need to book on your re-qualification training. This service is for both individuals and companies alike.

Paediatric first aid for Childminders

We know how difficult it can to book training when you are busy in the week.  So we now offer Paediatric first aid courses on a Saturday at our training centre in Ashton.   This training is at a special reduced rate with a training provider certificate valid for 3 years.  The course meets the same standards and is delivered in the same way as the accredited training.  If you would prefer to take the course under accreditation, just ask.

We also offer training on Saturdays to be delivered at your premises.
