First Aid Workshop

For young pupils up to year 6

We’ve heard of and seen several cases in the news recently where parents have been saved by their child’s quick actions.  Just like  when Suzie McCash at just 4 years old knew to dial 999 when her mum was suffering an anaphylactic reaction, absolutely amazing.

And how a yound boy, Colby Cook, saved his friend from choking on a meatball in the School dining hall. Without the quick thinking of this brave young man the outcome would have been very different.  Colby’s amazing story can be viewed on the video.

We all know how quickly children pick things up, their minds are like sponges eager to learn new things …. and they remember!

First aid is a life saving skill that can be picked up at any age as long as the learning is age appropriate in terms of language used and skills covered.  The learning has to be fun, interactive and engaging; and should aim to include every child at their level of understanding.

In a 2011 survey 73% of school children said they wanted to learn how to resuscitate someone and save a life.

We know that First aid is a skill that all Schools will want to ensure that pupils have an awareness of and we love working with Schools to ensure your needs are met.

Mini First Aid Workshops

We’re also really excited to be offering Mini First Aid workshops from pre-school upwards tailored appropriately to the ages of the children attending.  Our mini pre-schooler’s can meet Fido the first aid dog and learn how to call for help and the very basics.  Year 6 students will learn how to carry out CPR, do recovery position and know about how to control bleeding and help with asthma and other conditions.  In this training children work in teams to answer questions and play games at the end to consolidate learning.  Your school may decide to award points to the winning team or provide other incentives.  A certificate will be provided that you can print off and reward your children; and importantly they will have learned the skills that may help to save a life.
